The Plan

First, before I can create a plan, I have to have a goal.

Tentative Goal: Write a book in 2013

Next, I need to define the specifics of that goal.

• What constitutes a 'book' or 'novel'?

According to Wikipedia and the various sources it cites, a novel could be anyway from 16,000 to 175,000 words or more.

Considering how wordy I tend to be, 16,000 words isn't going to cut it at all. But we must also consider that ain't nobody got time to write 175,000 words.

I've heard, somewhere, that most mainstream genre books tend to be around 80,000 words give or take (but don't quote me). Considering I yearn to be average, that's what I'll shoot for.
